EP Henry vs Techo-Bloc Pavers — A Chester County Comparison
These are the two concrete paver manufacturers we specify most frequently for Chester County and Main Line projects. Both produce excellent products — but they serve different aesthetics and price points.
EP Henry
Headquarters: Bridgeport, PA — made locally, widely available in the region.
Price point: mid-range to premium. Generally 15-25% less expensive than comparable Techo-Bloc products.
Design range: traditional to contemporary. EP Henry's product range is broad — from traditional tumbled formats to clean contemporary slabs.
Key product lines:
- Brussels Block: tumbled surface, irregular cobblestone-feel edges. The most widely installed residential paver in the region. Traditional/historic aesthetic.
- Coventry Wall & Patio: rectangular format, available in multiple sizes. Classic look, works with colonial and traditional architecture.
- Old Dominion: brick-format rectangular pavers. Period-appropriate for colonial and Victorian properties.
- Nicolock: surface-seeded with exposed aggregate finish. More contemporary character.
Why we specify EP Henry: local availability means fast delivery and consistent supply. Products are engineered for Mid-Atlantic conditions. Well-established installation track record.
Techo-Bloc
Headquarters: Montreal, Quebec, with strong distribution throughout the Northeast.
Price point: premium. Expect to pay 20-35% more than EP Henry for comparable products.
Design range: wide, with particularly strong contemporary and transitional product lines.
Key product lines:
- Blu: large-format (24"x24") pavers with smooth, clean faces and precise edges. The go-to for contemporary architecture. Available in multiple colors.
- Antika: antiqued surface with irregular edges — creates a reclaimed European character. Works on both traditional and contemporary properties.
- Victorien: irregular cobblestone format for European village aesthetic.
- Raffinato: ultra-contemporary series, very clean and minimal.
- Armour Stone: oversized landscaping boulders and step units that coordinate with the paver systems.
Why we specify Techo-Bloc: when contemporary aesthetics are required and the budget supports the premium, Techo-Bloc products — especially the Blu series — create results that EP Henry's contemporary lines don't fully match.
