Meet the JHL Landscape Design Team

JHL Landscape Design is a family business — TJ and Sam Warner have built it together since TJ purchased the original JHL Landscaping operation in 2009. Behind them is a team of experienced installers and designers who've worked together long enough to function without a script.

TJ Warner — Owner & Lead Designer

TJ has been in the landscape industry since 2004 — starting on installation crews, learning the craft from the ground up, and eventually taking over a business with an established Chester County reputation. What that means for clients: the person designing your landscape understands exactly how it will be built. There's no gap between the design and the installation.

TJ's background is hands-on. He's dug the trenches, set the stones, and troubleshot the drainage problems. That field experience shapes every design decision — TJ designs for installability, not just aesthetics.

Sam Warner — Operations & Client Experience

Sam came to JHL from a career in teaching — and it shows. She's patient, thorough, and clear. When clients have questions during the design process, Sam makes sure they get real answers, not corporate runaround. She manages the business operations and client relationships that keep projects on track.

Sam's background in education means the JHL client process is designed for comprehension — you should understand what's being designed, why materials are being chosen, what the installation sequence is, and what to expect at every stage.

Our Installation Team

JHL's installation crews are long-tenured. We don't rely on seasonal labor or subcontractors for design-build projects. The people setting your patios and walls are the same people who've been doing it with us for years — they know our standards and they take pride in the quality of the finished work.

Our installation team is ICPI Certified for hardscape installation — which means they've been trained and tested on base preparation, drainage engineering, and installation methodology to the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute's standard.

The Design Process Is Collaborative

One thing the team prides itself on: listening. We don't arrive at your property with a preferred design. We arrive with questions — about how you use the space, what you've tried before, what you've seen that you loved, what frustrates you about your current outdoor space. The design emerges from that conversation.

The 3D rendering step is where that conversation becomes visual. When you see the rendering, you're either excited about what you see — or you have specific feedback about what to change. We revise until you're ready to say yes.
