Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a landscape master plan?
A landscape master plan is a comprehensive property-wide design document that includes a base map, existing conditions analysis, proposed planting plan, hardscape layout, lighting concept, drainage strategy, and phased implementation schedule. It serves as the complete blueprint for your property's future.
Do you work on smaller properties or only estates?
While our specialty is estate-scale and larger residential properties, we take on select smaller projects where the scope and vision align with our design approach. We focus on design complexity and long-term vision — not minimum acreage.
What does the design process look like from start to finish?
Our process moves through five phases: Discovery (understanding your goals), Site Analysis (measuring and studying the property), Concept Design (schematic plans and mood boards), Design Presentation (refined drawings and 3D renderings), and Build-Ready Plans (construction documents). Most projects span 8–16 weeks depending on scope.
Do you manage construction, or only provide design documents?
We are a design studio, not a contractor. We provide design, planning, and construction documents. We can recommend trusted contractors in Chester County and the Main Line, and we offer construction observation services to ensure your landscape is built to plan.
What is 3D landscape design, and why does it matter?
3D landscape design transforms flat plans into photorealistic or artistic three-dimensional visualizations of your future landscape. This allows you to see exactly what your property will look like — in different seasons, from different viewpoints — before any work begins. It eliminates guesswork and drives confident decision-making.
How do I know if I need a master plan or a smaller scope design?
If you're planning any significant investment in your property — whether now or in phases over the coming years — a master plan protects that investment by ensuring all improvements work together coherently. Even if you're only implementing Phase 1 now, the plan ensures Phase 2 and 3 will be ready when you are.
What areas do you serve?
Our West Chester studio serves Chester County including West Chester, Malvern, Paoli, Kennett Square, and surrounding areas. Our Newtown Square studio serves the Main Line including Bryn Mawr, Wayne, Villanova, Haverford, and surrounding communities.
